Showtime 2017

All done for another year.
An amateur vegetable grower cried when she won best exhibit in show for her onion set.
Another new competitor in the floral art, who only entered as it gave her something to concentrate on after a stroke won a cup which made her shed a tear and Anthea D was cock-a-hoop to get a special rosette for her Victoria sponge Cake!
It was worth all of the effort just to see that!
As usual the Show ran itself, with the dozen committee members making it all look very easy.
Thanks to them, and to the competitors who support the show.
It was fun

  14. A triumph indeed! What a decent man you are, the Prof is a lucky chap and should take you for a very expensive dinner. Do not cook it yourself.

  15. I would love to attend an event like that. There are no events like that around these parts! Maybe at some of the fairs, but I am sure they are not as much fun nor have the community spirit as the one such as yours. Congrats to all the winners! The food looks scrumptious! I hope you won something!

  17. It all looks to be running so well John (thanks I suspect to you) and it is all so colourful. Do I get it right when I say I think Rachel gets a first with her aubergines? And is that a ukulele I see on one of the tables?

  36. Just beautiful. So many entries from a small village - makes me think there's a real spirit of tradition and community that seems to be becoming rare in the US. I'm happy to have had this photo tour. Thanks, John, for letting your blog followers feel a part of it all, and for your effort on the show.

  37. It would be so much fun to see this in person. Looks like a tremendous success this year. One of these years I'll actually get my act together in time to submit something. I suppose I could start growing my award-winning potato today.

  38. It was a brilliant day, well done to everyone who had a hand in the organisation of the event, and especially to you. You do so much to publicise the show and get folk involved ... even a grower from Maenan ;-)

And your village pub is pretty special too :-) hic
